The Municipality of Pola celebrated the successful conclusion of its annual Moriones Festival on April 20, 2025, marked by vibrant costumes, historical reenactments, and a meaningful display of faith and cultural heritage.

Barangay Councilor Clifford Pagcaliwagan of Barangay Batuhan was awarded the championship title for his outstanding performance and portrayal of a Morion, impressing both judges and spectators with his dedication and artistry.

The Moriones Festival is a deeply rooted Christian tradition held during Holy Week, featuring participants dressed in colorful and elaborate wooden masks and Roman-inspired costumes. Central to the festival is the dramatization of the story of Longinus—a Roman soldier whose faith was awakened after witnessing the miracle of Jesus Christ.

The 2025 celebration was both successful and peaceful, thanks to the collective efforts of local barangays, residents, and the Pola Municipal Police Station (MPS). Security and traffic management operations were effectively conducted to ensure the orderly and safe observance of the festivities.

This year’s Moriones Festival not only highlighted Pola’s enduring devotion and creativity but also reinforced the spirit of unity and cooperation within the community.
