Pola have officially commenced its observance of Holy Week with a solemn Palm Sunday Mass on April 13, 2025. The religious celebration was led by Rev. Fr. Marlon Labay and held at St. John the Baptist Church in Poblacion, Pola, marking the sacred occasion of Linggo ng Palaspas (Palm Sunday).
Following the Eucharistic celebration, the faithful took to the streets of Poblacion for a traditional procession. Devotees carried their palm fronds — locally known as palaspas — in commemoration of the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. As the procession concluded, a blessing of the palms was performed, signifying the faithful’s devotion and spiritual readiness to enter the Holy Week, a time of reflection and prayer.
To ensure the safety and orderliness of the event, personnel from the Pola Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Traffic Management Office (TMO) of Pola, implemented route security, convoy assistance, and traffic management throughout the course of the activity.
The event was considered a peaceful and successful start to Holy Week in the municipality — a testament to the community’s enduring faith and unity.
