Pola, Oriental Mindoro — Pola Municipal Police Station arrested two men involved in illegal logging during an anti-illegal logging operation conducted on May 22, 2025, at around 4:10 PM in Barangay Calima.
The suspects, both residents of the said barangay, were apprehended after failing to present the necessary documents or permits for the cutting and transportation of coco lumber. While the chainsaw operator possessed proper documentation for the equipment, they were unable to show any authorization related to logging activities.
Seized from the suspects were approximately 290 board feet of coco lumber, valued at around PHP 7,250.00, along with the chainsaw used in the operation.
The individuals are currently under the custody of the Pola MPS while appropriate documentation is being processed for the filing of charges. The police have also coordinated with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Calapan for the proper measurement and marking of the confiscated timber.
The operation was conducted in accordance with the lawful procedures for arrest, including the informing of the suspects of their rights and proper documentation of the incident.
