COMELEC CHECKPOINTS SUCCESSFULLY ESTABLISHED DESPITE INCLEMENT WEATHER, MARKING THE START OF THE CAMPAIGN PERIOD

Pola, Oriental Mindoro – Despite the rainy weather, personnel of Pola Municipal Police Station, led by PMAJ FLORANTE M SUGIAN II, successfully established COMELEC checkpoints today, January 12, 2025, in full compliance with a memorandum from Executive Director Elnas, Jr. This operation also marks the official start of the campaign period for the upcoming elections.

The checkpoints were set up at 12:01 AM, even before the presence of COMELEC Election Officers (EOs), ensuring the timely enforcement of security measures as the election period commenced. By 8:00 AM, the operation was reinforced with the participation of POLA COMELEC Election Officer III, Mr. Joel M. Judrial, who joined the operation as directed by the memorandum.

PMAJ FLORANTE M SUGIAN II, ACOP, emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in the operation. “Rain or shine, the Pola MPS remains committed to safeguarding the election process. Our joint efforts with COMELEC, AFP, and other law enforcement agencies aim to maintain peace and order during this critical period,” he stated.

To ensure transparency, all personnel deployed at the checkpoints utilized body-worn cameras and alternative recording devices, as mandated by the memorandum. These checkpoints, conducted in strategic locations, aim to monitor compliance with election-related laws, including the nationwide gun ban and other election-related offenses.

The Pola MPS calls on the public to cooperate fully during checkpoint inspections and to report any suspicious activities or violations to authorities. PMAJ SUGIAN added, “The success of this operation relies not only on law enforcement but also on the active support of the community.”
